Post: Inspector of Explosives (Grade I)

Location: Lilongwe

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants should be in possession of a bachelor’s degree in either Mining Engineering or Civil/ Mechanical/Electrical Engineering obtained from accredited institutions.
Those with a valid Explosives/ Blasting Licence will have an added advantage

DUTIES

Liaise with explosives importing agents on border transfer of explosives;
scrutinize drafts of reports, permits and licenses as submitted by operators to the regulars;
advise users on proper drilling and blasting and oversee the blasting process where necessary;
arrange notification to police about movement of explosives. etc.

NOTE:

Documentary evidence of major requirements specified in the advertisement shall be needed during interviews. Serving officers will also be required to demonstrate during the interviews that they are permanent and pensionable officers in the Civil Service by producing letters of confirmation in appointment in addition to letters of appointment (PSR 19).

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants should be In possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in either Mining Engineering or Civil/Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering obtained from accredited institutions.
Knowledge in the use of computer is a must. Females are encouraged to apply

DUTIES

Regularly inspect the mines to ensure that work is being carried out according to safety rules and regulations prescribed by the Mines and Minerals;
ensure that all safety measures prescribed under the Mines and Minerals Act are being followed in the mines;
ensure that mine operations are being done in line with the mine designs, etc.
