Accountant

Knowledge, Skills, Competences and Attribute Desired:

At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy or its equivalent with ACCA/CIMA and those doing final ACC/CIMA levels can apply.
3 years’ experience in a similar position in busy accounting office. Those with Audit experience will have an added advantage
Knowledge of SAGE accounting package or extensive experience in any other computerized accounting package
Excellent communication skills and customer care skills
Positive attitude is a MUST

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Preparation of monthly management accounts in accordance with company policies
Ensuring timely and complete recording of revenue and expenses
Prepare Journal entries as per company and statutory accounting standards
Carry our reconciliations of control accounts and ensure that general ledger is properly maintained
Reconciles inter-company and ensure all transactions are captured
Prepare accounts schedules monthly to facilitate review of the accounts
Enforces Debt collection by supervising Credit control department
Ensure payables are settled according to their aging in order to manage cash flow at all time
Timely prepares VAT, WHT, PAYE and FBT tax returns as they fall due and ensure s that they are filled with MRA
Supervising of Finance Department
Any other relevant tasks that he/she may be assigned from time to time.

 Centre for Alternatives for Victimized Women and Children (CAVWOC) is a non-governmental organization with a vision to create a society free from Gender Based Violence and all forms of abuse against women, girls and children. CAVWOC with support from OXFAM and European Union (ISEM Project) is implementing projects in Balaka, Phalombe and Lilongwe and would like to invite applications to fill the following positions,

Project Officer

The position will be responsible for the coordination of the project and provide technical and programmatic expertise, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting. The position reports to program manager

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the project planning according to set timelines.
Planning and Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables.
Manage projects resource allocation.
Track project deliverables using appropriate tools.
Write periodic reports defining project progress.
Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve projects deliverables.
Participate in resources mobilization initiative such as proposal development.
Liaise with other managers to ensure the effective and efficient program delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS

A minimum of Bachelors degree in Social science or relevant qualification from a reputable institution .
Three year work experience in project management
Knowledge of Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH), Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV), Gender Based Violence (GBV) and Girls empowerment .
Proven track record or expertise in development of project proposal.
Excellent interpersonal, communication skills.
Ability to manage a complex and varied work load and work under pressure.
Excellent IT skills i.e., Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage projects by planning and tracking activities undertaken and implemented in accordance with project agreements.
Establish work plans, set performance targets, and identify challenges and strategies to achieve project aims in coordination with other relevant CAVWOC staff and beneficiaries.
Support the Programmes Manager, who has the primary responsibility for overseeing programs.
Ensure implementation is in compliance with specific donor requirements and in line with the CAVWOC vision and mission Coordination and Representation.
Act as focal point and liaison between the projects and other stakeholders where necessary.
Ensure that information about project achievements and lessons learned is distributed within CAVWOC and peer organizations
Participate in proposal development.

QUALIFICATIONS

1-2 years work experience in project management,
