| Malawi Adventist University is hereby inviting interested and suitably qualified distinguished academics to fill the post of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Pro Vice-Chancellor) which is vacant. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor reports to the Vice-Chancellor.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE JOB
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor shall deputise the Vice-Chancellor in the academic management of the University, including the development and implementation of strategic plans, policies, teaching and research programs.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
The successful candidate shall be entrusted with the function of playing a leading role in the development, implementation and monitoring of the University’s strategic plan, directing research and development and managing processes for continual quality improvement.Chairs the following committees: Academic Standards, Library, Faculty Research and Publications.Prepares and arranges in consultation with Heads of department and the Registrar the schedules for classes and examinations.Recommends the academic rank of members of faculty.Plans for the in-service training for faculty members.Supervises the academic programs of all students including specific requirements for students on probation.Approves class registration and changes in programs of students and processes requests for academic deviations.

The post of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Pro Vice-Chancellor) is one of the senior positions at Malawi Adventist University. A candidate besides possessing a PhD degree from a reputable University in his/her field of specialization must also:
Be capable of maintaining positive relationships with internal and external parties;Be familiar with the challenges currently facing universities and is aware of global trends in higher education;Is a motivational leader, able to enthuse staff at all levels;Be open-minded, willing to learn from members of his/her team;Be fully conversant with widely acceptable academic practices which relate to the following:Conduct consultative curricula reviews;Enforce standard and quality assurance;Maintain robust academic governanceHave an appreciation of echoes and beliefs of Seventh-day Adventist
