| The Malawi interfaith AIDS Association (MIAA) is an interfaith network body whose overall objective is to facilitate and coordinate a united commitment of Faith Communities in the struggle against HIV/AIDS. MIAA wishes to engage the services of suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the position of Program Officer tenable immediately in the Interfaith Association’s Secretariat in Lilongwe.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
Manage the coordination and implementation of HIV/AIDS initiatives and programs of faith based institutions and organizations;
Assist and provide technical support to member religious Mother Bodies and FBOs implementing HIV/AIDS projects/programs;
Develop and maintain a monitoring database system for the MIAA in close liaison with member and partner organizations;
Facilitate knowledge management and sharing within the MIAA membership and with relevant stakeholders;
Establish and maintain strategic linkages among stakeholders in order to create synergies in program implementation;
Ensure the compilation of quarterly and annual MIAA program reports for submission to key stakeholders and partners;
Ensure the development within MIAA membership of institutional capacity to undertake effective response to the epidemic;
Ensure that gender and human rights are mainstreamed in HIV/AIDS projects/programs of the faith based institutions and organizations;
Conduct periodic supervision, monitoring and evaluation of programs implemented by faith based institutions and organizations in the country;
Coordinate research on HIV/AIDS issues in the faith community;
Organize and actively participate in relevant HIV/AIDS meetings, workshops and conferences.
Qualifications and Experience
The position requires a highly motivated person with the following attributes:
Minimum of a University Degree in Social Sciences, Health, Development and any other related field from a recognized institution
A minimum of three years experience in project formulation, design, budgeting, appraisal, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and report writing;
Adequate skills in gender analysis, mainstreaming and rights based approaches to programming;
Good interpersonal skills, cross-cultural and religious tolerance and sensitivity;
Excellent computer skills;
Proficiency and knowledge in computer database software and management;
Excellent writing and communication skills with ability to transfer knowledge through formal and informal training;
Experience in working in HIV/AIDS programs within the faith community is an added advantage;
Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
