PROJECT OFFICER

 The Hunger Project Malawi (THP – Mw), a locally registered NGO under the Trustees Incorporation Act of 1962, is a member of The Hunger Project Global, a non-governmental organization working in more than 35 countries for the end of world hunger & poverty. THP-Mw currently has Integrated Livelihoods programs in six districts of Zomba, Chikhwawa, Blantyre, Neno, Ntcheu and Dedza. We have one vacant position of Project Officer in Chikwawa district, to be filled by 25th May 2017and we are looking for a young and dynamic individual who would like to build her/his career with us.

Job purpose:

Reporting to the Head of Programs, the position will provide leadership for day to day management of some of THP-Malawi’s epicenters in Chikwawa district. Among others, specific job responsibilities include: facilitation of community mobilization and project implementation; facilitation of participatory monitoring, evaluation, and learning; representing THP-Malawi at various district council processes; and report writing.

The Ideal Candidate MUST:

Hold a degree in either Agriculture, Social Studies, Rural/ Community Development from a recognized Institution.
Have practical experience in Integrated Rural Development.
Be mature, a self starter and willing to reside in a rural set-up/area.
This position falls within a salary range of K400,000.00 to K500,000.00 per month.

COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

 Position Summary

The HP+ project is currently seeking an experienced professional to fill the position of Communications Specialist. The Communications Specialist will contribute to the HP+ project by coordinating and supporting planning, development and the implementation of project communications in Malawi In particular, the Communications Specialist will be responsible for producing written documentation of project activities (reports, success stories, blogs), in collaboration with technical staff. As well, he/she will be responsible for ensuring correct application of the project’s branding requirements and implementing dissemination strategies For external information products and global dissemination, he/she will work with the HP+ headquarters-based communication team. The Communications Specialist will report to the HP+ Malawi Country Director and work closely with the other Malawi-based staff. This position is full time and based in Lilongwe, Malawi. Only persons legally eligible to work in Malawi will be considered and no expatriate benefits are associated with this position.

Key Responsibilities:

Provides editorial support to project staff by editing, collating and reviewing reports and deliverables for internal use.
Develops and manages innovative mechanisms and tools to capture and share HP+ ideas, achievements and impact.
Documents project success stories through writing and photography.
Organizes and supports communications and materials for project trainings, conferences, workshops, and meetings.
In collaboration with the US-based communication team, manages the dissemination of HP+ Malawi products globally.
Supports the project’s participation in domestic conferences by helping to identify appropriate meetings, plan abstracts, prepare and finalize materials, and provide on-site communication support as required.
Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

A minimum of 5 years work experience in a similar role.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are required.
Strong English writing and editing skills required.
Skilled at editing and formatting documents using Microsoft Office.
Prior experience working with USAID-funded programs preferred, including understanding of USAID branding regulations/plans.
Period of Performance: May 15, 2017 — September 30, 2017 (possibility of extension contingent on project needs)

CHRISTIAN HEALTH ASSOCIATION OF MALAWI - CHAM

 An acute lack of adequately trained health care workers continues to be a persistent issue with the Malawian Health Sector. Human Resources for Health (HRH) issues are further compounded by the high disease burden, most notably HIV/AIDS. As a key health partner, the Presidents Emergency Plan for Aids Relief (PEPFAR) through the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has provided financial support for the recruitment of additional health care workers in Government and CHAM facilities to improve the delivery of health and HIV/AIDS services.

With this support, the Christian Health Association of Malawi in collaboration with HRH2030 will recruit a total of 271 health workers for PEPFAR priority Government and CHAM facilities in Blantyre, and priority CHAM facilities in Zomba and Lilongwe.

The health care workers targeted for the recruitment include:

Nurse Midwife Technicians,
Clinical Technicians,
Medical Assistants,
Pharmacy Assistants,
Laboratory Assistants, and Laboratory Technologists.
