COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FACILITATOR (4 POSTS)

 The Malawi Red Cross Society (MRCS) is a member of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. In Malawi, it is established by an Act of Parliament. It focuses on providing Humanitarian Services to the needy and vulnerable populations.

Community Development Facilitator (4 Posts)

Duty Station: Nsanje, Chikwawa and Zomba

Purpose of the Position

To assist the Assistant Project Officer in carrying out community mobilization activities
To provide technical support and supervise the volunteer coaches in the implementation of all activities in the project impact areas.

Key Responsibilities

Lead in carrying out community support activities in the Project area
Work closely with Community structures such as sub divisions, Village Health Committees, Village Civil Protection committees, Community Action Teams and other structures that may be available and relevant to the Project
Assist sub division volunteers and volunteer coaches to draw monthly work plans and compile reports in liaison with volunteer coaches
Organise and facilitate community trainings workshops and meetings in liaison with Government partners in the impact area.
Mobilise community in project impact areas through volunteers to identify and prioritise best combinations of Community based health care interventions to address their problems
Assist the APO in collecting report forms from volunteers and entering the data in a data base.
Carry out any other duties as assigned by District Project Officer from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum qualification of a Diploma in Disaster Risk Reduction or Community Development
3 years’ years intensive work experience.
Computer literate
Excellent skills in English and local communication languages
Be able to ride a motor cycle and be willing to live in rural areas.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Coordinator (MELC)

Reporting to the Head of Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning & Reporting (HMELR), the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Coordinator (MELC) will play an important role in monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the impact of Mary s Meals’ programme in Malawi.

The MELC will also develop and manage all programme pilot projects (including the ongoing nutrition, electronic data collection and hand-washing pilots).
The MELC will also be responsible for our impact assessment work and any other studies (e.g. inclusion) as requested by the HMELR.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

BA/BSc in a relevant subject (e.g. Community Development, Social Policy, Public Administration).
At least three (3) years’ experience in a senior MEL role within the NGO sector in Malawi.
Experience of implementing and reporting against an agreed MEL strategy.
Experience of coordinating data collection, collation and analysis and data audits and working on long-term nutritional/ educational impact assessments.
Experience with digital data collection methods.
Familiarity with MEL methods and practices in international development.
Robust data collation, analysis and interpretation skills.
Advanced Excel skills.
Able to lead on implementation of MEL strategy.
Able to communicate well across all levels.
Strong Report writing, IT and numeracy skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Excellent attention to detail.
