Background:
CRS signed a SUBAWARD under Feed the Future Malawi Strengthening Agricultural and Nutrition Extension (SANE) PRIME AWARD funded by USAID/Malawi and implemented by University of Illinois. The goal of the Strengthening Agriculture and Nutrition Extension Services activity project is to strengthen the capacity of the DAES to facilitate coordination between agricultural and nutrition extension actors to provide more effective agricultural and nutrition extension services for smallholder women and men farmers. The project will improve access to agricultural and nutrition extension services for male and female smallholder farmers in Malawi.

A Job opportunity has arisen within the Country Program for the position of District Facilitators for Lilongwe (2), Ntcheu (1), Mangochi (1) and Blantyre (1).
Job Summary
As a member of the Feed the Future Malawi SANE project team, the District Facilitator will act as a field-based link between the districts and the SANE project. She/he is expected to support the development and implementation of the District Strengthening Action Plans (DSAPs), provide field-level backstopping to the platforms of the District Agricultural Extension Services System (DAESS), and contribute to SANE’s visibility in the districts. She/he will be expected to work closely with SANE team at its Lilongwe-based office, the District Agriculture Offices (DAOs), leadership and stakeholders involved in the DAESS platforms (e.g. Area Stakeholder Panels, District Stakeholder Panels, and District Agriculture Extension Coordination Committees), and other district-level partners.

JOB DESCRIPTION
"(Job Responsibilities:
Build partnerships between the SANE project and district-level partners (e.g. DAOs, DAESS platforms);
Support development and implementation of the DSAPs by providing guidance and backstopping to the development of the DSAPs in their focal districts and supporting the implementation of activities outlined in the DSAPs in collaboration with DAOs, DAESS platforms, and other district-level partners;
Facilitate training and capacity building within and across districts, with support from SANE’s Lilongwe-based office, District Agricultural Offices, and other district-level partners by supporting training based on priorities identified by districts through the DSAPs, on topics of core managerial competencies for management-level extension personnel, technical or methodological competencies for field-level extension personnel (e.g. AEDOs) and other supplementary skills (e.g. computer literacy) as needed as well as developing the skills of focal DAESS structure members on areas (e.g. meeting operations, minute-taking) that might be identified as gaps;
Support other district-level SANE activities (e.g. field visits) in collaboration with project personnel;
Support improved functionality and capacity of DAESS platforms by supporting DAESS Secretariats in the planning and execution of platform meetings, attending the scheduled DAESS platform meetings and other related events and providing targeted support to DAESS platforms as needed.
Strengthen MEAL procedures and systems in focal districts by helping to set up systems to support documentation of activities in DAESS platforms, supporting dissemination of studies/assessment conducted by SANE, to district-level stakeholders, supporting training/mentoring of focal points in data management at the district level in topics of data cleaning and data quality, data entry, validation and triangulation of findings, reporting and dissemination of results.
Support SANE MEAL objectives and outputs by documenting the successes and lessons learned regarding design and implementation of the DSAPs, initiatives spearheaded by platforms in strengthening the DAESS and other district-level activities conducted or supported by SANE.
Typical Background, Experience & Requirements:
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related to agricultural or nutrition extension, community development, health, business management, or other related field;
At least 2 years’ professional experience working at the field level for an NGO would be a plus
Experience in participatory action planning and community engagement
Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data preferred
Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Good verbal and written communication and reporting skills
Good relationship management skills and the ability to work closely with local partners and community members
Attention to details, accuracy and timeliness in executing assigned responsibilities

Basic proficiency in Chichewa
Travel Required:
This will require 70 ravelling to rural communities.
