EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

 Provision of leadership and strategic direction

Liaising with the chairpersons of the various subcommittees of Executive Council in ensuring that the committees are delivering on the agreed performance objectives in line with the Institute’s strategic direction.
Preparing and submitting management information reports to the Executive Council relating to the operations of the Institute as well as all the Executive Council subcommittees

Driving the Institute's Performance and Growth

Developing and growing of the IPMM membership and subscription base in line with the Institutes membership growth targets.
Developing membership retention strategy and ensuring that the Institute’s service delivery is meeting membership expectations and set standards.
Driving subscription to the various revenue generating activities e.g Professional Development Programs, Annual General Conference and other activities as arranged from time to time in line with the institute’s growth strategy.
Taking a Leadership role in the member needs identification process and ensuring that the Institute’s member value proposition is packaged accordingly for each segment

Managing Stakeholders

Maintaining and developing external relationships with other Institutes of People Management across Africa as well as the federations to which IPMM is affiliated to. This is in addition to the relationships that IPMM has with the Department of Human Resources Management and Development (DHRMD), Ministry of Labour, Manpower planning and development; Employers Consultative Association of Malawi (ECAM) as well as other professional membership bodies.
Ensuring that there is consistent, regular and transparent communication with all members that reflects the strategy, goals and objectives of the Institute.
Ensuring that the Institute’s programs and activities are compliant with all the regulatory and statutory requirements.
Meeting the regulators periodically to ensure that they are appraised of the activities and strategic direction of the Institute.

Budgeting and Control

Prudently managing the Institute’s resources within the approved budget.
Reviewing high level management information on a regular basis to ensure that there is accuracy, consistency and full disclosure, (e.g. financial statements. exception reports, audit reports), as defined with the relevant Subcommittee Chairperson to ensure that performance, risks, controls are being appropriately reported, governed and managed.
Driving research and consultancy

Research and offering Consultancy services on best people management practices for the benefit of members.
Coordinating and conducting various surveys aimed at enhancing the HR profession in Malawi.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accountancy, Marketing or Commerce
Those with an MBA can apply although it’s not a prerequisite.
Experience and Knowledge

3 years’ experience at senior management level preferably in a professional membership body.
Knowledge of business and financial management principles and practices.
Relationship management experience

Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing when interpreting and explaining information relating to the value proposition of IPMM
Result-orientation, strong motivation to achieve and adherence to very tight deadlines

MAIN DUTIES

1.Providing Nursing Care to patients.

2.University Degree in Nursing from a recognized tertiary institution.

Research Physician, Blantyre Malaria Project (BMP)

 The Blantyre Malaria Project (BMP) a research affiliate of theUniversity Of Malawi College Of Medicine would like to invite applications from suitable and qualified candidates to fill the post of a Study Physician/investigator for a research project entitled a Randomized open – label controlled trial of daily Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole or weekly Chloroquine among adults on antiretroviral therapy in Blantyre, Malawi (TSCQ Study). The study site is a purpose-designed clinic on the grounds of the Ndirande Health Centre.

POST: RESEARCH PHYSICIAN

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

*.Leading a -35 member study team comprised of nurses, clinical officers, lab technicians, data entry clerks and support staff, toward the common goal of delivering high quality research data and clinical care.
*.Supervising clinical staff to ensure that study protocols, standard operating procedures, ethical and regulatory standards, and Malawi Ministry of Health clinicalstandards are adhered to.
*.Assisting with research design, protocol amendments, data analysis, manuscript preparation, and dissemination at local and international fora.
*.Communicating clearly and regularly with international investigators and sponsors to keep them abreast of all that is happening at the research site.
*.Supervising the implementation and enforcement of site quality management plans.
*.Reviewing study participants during scheduled and unscheduled visits, including identifying, reporting adverse events and serious adverse events
*.Providing clinical care including patient consultations, performing minor surgical procedures, interpreting lab results, prescribing pertinent therapy, and facilitating referrals.
*.Maintaining a strong working relationship withlocal partners including, the Ndirande community, Ndirande Health Center, Blantyre DHO, Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, Dignitas International, and College of Medicine and affiliates.

QUALIFICATION

*.Bachelor of Medicine andSurgery (MBBS) and Registration with Medical Council of Malawi.

EXPERIENCE

*.At least 1 year post internship experience, (those with research experience will have an added advantage).
