| The Blantyre Malaria Project (BMP) a research affiliate of theUniversity Of Malawi College Of Medicine would like to invite applications from suitable and qualified candidates to fill the post of a Study Physician/investigator for a research project entitled a Randomized open – label controlled trial of daily Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole or weekly Chloroquine among adults on antiretroviral therapy in Blantyre, Malawi (TSCQ Study). The study site is a purpose-designed clinic on the grounds of the Ndirande Health Centre.
POST: RESEARCH PHYSICIAN
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
*.Leading a -35 member study team comprised of nurses, clinical officers, lab technicians, data entry clerks and support staff, toward the common goal of delivering high quality research data and clinical care.
*.Supervising clinical staff to ensure that study protocols, standard operating procedures, ethical and regulatory standards, and Malawi Ministry of Health clinicalstandards are adhered to.
*.Assisting with research design, protocol amendments, data analysis, manuscript preparation, and dissemination at local and international fora.
*.Communicating clearly and regularly with international investigators and sponsors to keep them abreast of all that is happening at the research site.
*.Supervising the implementation and enforcement of site quality management plans.
*.Reviewing study participants during scheduled and unscheduled visits, including identifying, reporting adverse events and serious adverse events
*.Providing clinical care including patient consultations, performing minor surgical procedures, interpreting lab results, prescribing pertinent therapy, and facilitating referrals.
*.Maintaining a strong working relationship withlocal partners including, the Ndirande community, Ndirande Health Center, Blantyre DHO, Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, Dignitas International, and College of Medicine and affiliates.
QUALIFICATION
*.Bachelor of Medicine andSurgery (MBBS) and Registration with Medical Council of Malawi.
EXPERIENCE
*.At least 1 year post internship experience, (those with research experience will have an added advantage).
