| Job Purpose
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who can demonstrate success in securing significant institutional funding. The successful candidate will play a leading role in the achievement of a strong ongoing multi-annual funding base for Concern in Malawi, which supports the delivery of quality programmes in line with our Strategic Plan. You will report to the Programmes Director and work closely with Programme Coordinators, Country Finance Controller, Country Director and HQ-based Desk.
Key Responsibilities
Develop the country funding strategy thorough research and the development of relationships with key donors and potential consortium partners
Write concept notes and full proposals for both grants and contracts to a high standard, following thorough stakeholder analyses, data collection and all necessary consultations (internal and external)
Coordinate and facilitate consortium formation and proposal development processes externally and internally.
Develop MOUs, pre-teaming agreements or other required documentation in relation to consortium formation and partnership development.
Support the development and review of donor reports, develop and manage a donor compliance management system and train staff on donor compliance rules
Coach key staff, internally and from partner organisationson proposal development and management of donor grants / contracts.
Credentials and Experience
A Masters level qualification in Development Studies, International Relations, Social Studies or a related field
Minimum 5 years’ experience of working in an NGO demonstrating successful proposal writing and grant management for major institutional donors (including EU, DFID, USAID, UN agencies) and foundations
Proven track record in securing significant institutional funding from successful grant / contract applications
Excellent writing skills in English, including proposals and reports
Excellent project planning, monitoring and evaluation skills, using logical frameworks as well as budgeting and financial analysis skills
Excellent networking, communication, negotiation and presentation skills
Experience of working in some or all of the following thematic areas: Livelihoods & Resilience; Health & Nutrition; Gender Equality & GBV; Education; Emergency Preparedness & Response
Experience of working at a leadership or coordination level in consortia preferred
Experience of working with local partners in implementing programmes against the background of donor compliance requirements.
