DRIVER/OFFICE ASSISTANT

 World Learning Inc. is implementing the Malawi Scholarship Program (MW) funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The objective of MSP is to strengthen Health Service Delivery in Malawi through training of Health Professionals. A vacancy for the Driver/Office Assistant exists in its Administration Department as follows:

Position Title: Driver/Office Assistant

Department: Finance and Administration

Duty Station : Lilongwe

Supervised by : Finance and Administration Associate

Duties & Responsibilities

Transport authorized goods, people. messages, etc. from one destination to another;
Ensure that the car assigned to him is clean, dependable and workable at all times;
Fill in travel forms correctly and report distance traveled and consumption of fuel and oil on a daily basis;
Report any accidents and damages incurred to the traffic police, the insurance company and to the organization for appropriate action;
Clean assigned car, check availability of sufficient fuel, air, water and oil every morning before driving;
Check if the car assigned to him functions properly:
Notify that cars get serviced after traveling predetermined kilometers;
Ensure that cars are not used for purposes beyond call of duty;
Respect traffic regulations and get cars inspected annually on time,
Check if the car assigned to him has maintenance tools;
Request for purchases/charges/ of battery, tires maintenance kit, etc.;
Occasionally purchase office supplies and other goods as required and deliver them in time;
Handle bank correspondence and cashing petty cash in the bank;
Adhere to the speed limit for driving in and out of town;
Keep Driving License always renewed;
Provide minor maintenance to the car assigned to him when it runs into problems;
Check out maintained cars from garage after ensuring that they work properly;
Facilitate every function in the organization that needs vehicle use;
Perform similar tasks as deemed necessary.

Office Assistant

Cleaning all Offices, toilets, bathrooms and all Office surrounding
Reporting any broken utensils to the Finance and Administration Assistant
Collecting mail from the Post Office and delivering it accordingly
Assisting the Finance and Administration Associate in Petty Cash Administration
Carrying any other duties as advised and directed.

Qualifications

Malawi School Certificate of Education
Valid Driver’s License
Defensive Driving License obtained less than two years ago

Experience/ Attributes

Proven ability to drive 4WD vehicles in and out of town;
Clean record of safe driving;
Ability to carry out minor repairs and maintenance;
Proficiency in spoken English,
Ability to work effectively without close supervision;
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.

INFRASTRUCTURE AND EQUIPMENT OFFICER

 Summary of the Position:

To oversee the infrastructure planning and works in health facilities and field offices, including planning for renovations, defining technical specifications, purchasing equipment, managing assets and donations, supporting contracting, maintaining inventories, and ensuring regular maintenance planning and execution. S/he will help to develop and oversee compliance to PIH-EQUIP policies.

Responsibilities

1) Infrastructure Support

Review field requests and prioritize works – looking at minor maintenance, refurbishments and supply of furniture equipment
Request and review Bills of Quantities and supplier availability
Provide on-site supervision of works
2) Care of Electronic Equipment (printers, copiers. hard drives, phones, etc.)

Oversee technical specifications for purchase, installation, maintenance, and repairs for equipment purchased for PIH-EQUIP field offices or supported health facilities
Oversee the tagging and branding of PIH equipment and major supplies
Ensure all new items are recorded in the Asset Register when received
Do regular inventory checks and update the registers to be able to produce quarterly Asset Reports
Organize donation certificates where needed
Report on and take action for repair when faulty equipment is identified
Organize the disposal process, including filing all necessary paperwork o Contribute to annual budget planning on ICT equipment needs
Oversee and monitor asset management
Support contracting, insurances and maintenance planning
3) Planning, Reporting and Budgeting

Maintain Asset Inventory Database and provide quarterly reports, as well as reports on demand
Assist in budget development and costing related to equipment purchases
Ensure donor compliance

Qualifications Required

Minimum Advanced Diploma in engineering, electronics, computer science or a related field
At least 3 years work experience in supporting equipment maintenance and repairs

CLINICAL MENTORS (MULTIPLE POSITIONS)

 Summary of the position:

The Clinical Mentor will be in a position to scale up and improve quality of care & treatment services for adults, children, pregnant women, adolescents and key populations using different models of care at facility level in accordance with national guidelines.

Reporting to the team leader, he/ she will provide direct care related to HIV ‘treatment and care’ as well as building capacity of MOH staff at the facility to meet the 90-90-90 treatment targets for HIV testing, treatment and viral load suppression.

Duties and Responsibilities

Train and mentor clinicians in the didactic and practical matters of HIV care and treatment
Equip clinicians and nurses to effectively diagnose and manage ART patients for opportunistic infections, drug side effects, and treatment failure.
Assist health providers at designated points of service in case finding and strengthening entry points in order to increase the number of clients tested and referred for care and treatment.
Work with facility staff to improve systems for identification of HIV exposed infants and children
Assist in maximizing the efficiency of clinic systems as they relate to HIV care and treatment
Assist facility staff to improve the operation of the ART clinic and the patient referral network
Ensure that there is tracking system of medicines including verification of expiry date before receiving supplies
Work directly with facility staff to design and implement quality improvement projects.
Work closely with the facility in-charge to improve adherence to national guidelines, procedures, and SOPs
Ensure that referral and linkage of TB/HIV co-infection is in place
Ensure that infection control procedures are followed
Assess and formally report the progress of the mentoring visits

Qualification required:

Registered Clinical Officer
Strong knowledge and experience with HIV/AIDS treatment
2nd line provider preferred
Excellent communication skills — both written and oral
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong leadership skills
Creative thinker and good team player
Respect for local leadership in the health system
Sensitive to and respect for local culture and tradition

COMMUNITY HEALTH OFFICER (MULTIPLE POSITIONS)

The Community Health Officer will provide technical support for the community-based delivery of integrated HIV services in the district S/he works under close guidance and support from the District Coordinator to support the DHMT, health center staff, supervisors, Health Surveillance Assistants, Expert Clients (EC) and other community-based service providers to meet quality standards in service provision and facilitates linkages with community level structures and institutions.

Duties and Responsibilities

Create Demand for HIV testing Support Index client testing

Improve Health Literacy in the community
Promote Provider Initiated Testing and Counseling (PITC)

Support pediatric testing through improvements in PITC Conduct HIV Testing for key populations to identify positives and link them to care iii Supervise and mentor on HIV Testing
2) 90f HIV+ people have suppressed viral loads and retained in care

Support establishment / revamping of HIV Support groups Support Health facilities to provide Positive Health, Dignity, and Prevention (PHDP) package to PLWH through ECs
Introduce appointment booking diaries and Tracing registers
Support defaulter tracing and link systems
Establish and strengthen teen clubs
Promotion of male involvement in HIV related services
Promotion of early health seeking behavior in the community and retention to HIV/TB care
Reporting and M&E Management

Qualifications required

Certified Nurse, Public health Officer, Community Development Officer or a related field is required
Public Health Nurse Certificates will be an added advantage
Minimum of 3 years working experience in community health, preferably with USAID funded projects
Good experience with the community health strategy
Computer proficiency
Well organized and good communication skills
Confident and able to cope with potentially challenging situations
Good understanding of public health issues particularly HIV/AIDS.

Duties

Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor’s Degree with a Major in Finance, Accounting, Business or Healthcare field
Must have Five years’ Financial or accounting experience in a busy office
Must be Computer literate with high proficiency in Spreadsheets and knowledge of QuickBooks will be an added advantage
A Master’s degree may substitute for two years of the required experience
