| Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates of Malawian nationality to fill the vacant position of Executive Director at the Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) tenable at its offices in Zomba.
The Organisation
MANEB is a parastatal organization established by an Act of Parliament to conduct such academic and other examinations at the conclusion of any approved learning programmes in Malawi as it may be considerable in the public interest and award certificates to successful candidates in such examinations.
General Description of the Job
The Executive Director will be responsible to the MANEB Board of Directors for the efficient and effective operation of MANEB. He or she shall have overall responsibility for managing MANEB and providing leadership, guidance and advice on policy and overall strategic direction of MANEB and general management of the organization and its resources.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the general direction of the Board, the Executive Director’s key duties and responsibilities will include, but not limited to, the following:
Coordinating the timely development, administration and processing of national examinations;
Planning, coordinating and monitoring the security of administration of national examinations;
Coordinating the preparation and implementation of development plans and policies of MANEB;
Planning and coordinating the capacity-building of MANEB to sustain its Development;
Preparing and presenting draft development and recurrent annual budget estimates;
Managing financial and administrative functions of MANEB consistent with MANEB Act, Public Finance Management Act, Public Procurement Act, Public Audit Act and other relevant Laws;
Planning and coordinating meetings of the Board and its committees;
Coordinating and monitoring the enforcement of the MANEB Act and other relevant pieces of legislation and their regulations, such as the Education Act, on the proper conduct of national examinations and other related issues; and
Coordinating the overall organization and general day to day management of MANEB.
Qualifications, Experience and Attributes
The ideal candidate should have a minimum qualification of a Master’s Degree, reparably in Education or related discipline plus a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institution.
Applicants should have at least five (5) years’ experience at a senior management level. Those in possession of a PhD in Education or related discipline shall have an added advantage

Have excellent intra/inter personal relationships;
Be able to work under pressure and a problem solver;
Have sound knowledge in financial matters;
Be computer literate; and
Be able to meet urgent deadlines.
Appointment and Remuneration
The successful candidate shall be offered a negotiable performance related contract for a period of three (3) years. He or she shall be offered an attractive salary and benefits commensurate with seniority of the position and qualifications of the candidate.
