 The Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM) is an ecumenical association of Church-owned health facilities in Malawi. CHAM is the second largest provider of health services in Malawi, with member health facilities in rural areas. CHAM has won the notice of award of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to execute the CDC HRH PROJECT: “Assist the Ministry of Health to Provide Critical Human Resources for Health (HRH) to Achieve HIV Epidemic Control in Malawi under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)”.

Following vacancy has arisen at the CHAM Secretariat in Lilongwe, which is the central coordination unit of the Association: Driver.

Scope of work

To provide transport and messenger services to the CDC HRH PROJECT CHAM and CHAM.

Key duties and responsibilities

Drives vehicles safely to provide transportation to authorised personnel for service, activities, delivery and collection of mail, documents, and other items.
Manages vehicles as assigned and ensures that vehicles are in usable condition, including day to day maintenance of assigned vehicles and reporting.
Performs minor repairs and arranges for other repairs, regular servicing and ensures vehicle cleanliness at all times
Making sure the vehicle documents are valid and manages vehicle log books, records daily mileage, fuel consumption, oil changes and greasing.
Responsible for the security of the vehicle and ensures steps required by the rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accident.
Assists in photocopying, binding documents and circulation of internal mail.
Submits monthly transport returns and vehicle reports.

Qualifications and Experience

Secondary education, preferably Malawi School Certificate of Education, and a valid driver’s license
At least seven years’ experience with safe driving record.

Requisite Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

Knowledge of the driving rules and regulations in Malawi
Skills in minor motor vehicle repair
Ability to read, write, and understand instructions in English
Sober, with ability to work as part of a team and take instructions
Computer literate.

Budget preparation and monitoring.
Cash flow and bank management.
Cash and fuel advances management.
Audit preparation and focal person for project audits.
Payroll review.
Donor reporting.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from a recognised institution
Minimum three years’ working experience in similar position
Three years’ working experience in grant management especially USAID grants
Experience working with international cooperating partners
Requisite Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

Comprehensive knowledge of NGO and Government sector administrative processes
Ability to develop Grants systems and guidelines and to train staff thereby
Computer literate and knowledge of basic accounting packages
Excellent oral and written communication skills
A self-starter, strategic thinker and very creative
Ability to work under pressure and deliver results on time
A good team worker with excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
