| Feed The Children Inc. established an in-country presence in Malawi in 2009 and administers a diverse portfolio of both relief and development programs. The country program supports a wide range of projects focusing on; protecting livelihoods and addressing food insecurity, improving health and nutritional status of women and children and early childhood education.
Government of Malawi through the Department of Nutrition, HIV and AIDS has awarded Feed The Children Inc. a grant with funding from World Bank and CIDA to implement in collaboration with Rumphi District Council the Support for Nutrition Improvement Component (SNIC) Project in Rumphi district. The SNIC Project is a Malawi government initiative that is set to increase access to and utilization of selected services known to contribute to the reduction of child stunting, maternal and child anaemia.
The project intends to support efforts of building a healthy and productive population through improved nutritional status of women of child bearing age and under five children. The project will take a holistic approach to address the causative factors of poor nutrition among women of the child bearing age (15-49), children aged 0 to 59 months and other vulnerable groups in the communities Proven cost effective nutrition interventions that have shown to contribute to reduction of stunting and anaemia will be used
Applications are invited from qualified candidates to fill the position below. The position is based in Rumphi District.
Main Job Responsibilities
Facilitate the settlement of financial obligations, processing of financial data and administration of stores to support program implementation and operations and overseeing all administrative issues at the district level.
Compile all documentation required by HQ and Donor reports.
Reviews all documentation to ensure they are complete, follow up with staff on all documentation required to support vouchers and scanning all vouchers for donor report.
Management of Cash Imprest, establishes and reports on cash balances and process recoupments, summarizes outstanding commitments requiring cash payments, files cash payment requests, bank payment vouchers, general journals and other important finance documents on weekly basis.
Preparing payment vouchers for all payments, write cheques for approved vouchers and compiles cash payment forms for approval by the Accountant in order to replenish cash floats.
Fulfilling Internal and External Audit requirements by assisting the Accountant in preparing audit schedules.
Assist in Planning and Budgeting in projecting the costs of activities and materials for different units and providing technical support in the production of budgets
Key Qualifications and Required Experience
Should have a Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE),
Should have a Diploma in Accounting/Advanced Diploma in Business and Accounting.
Should have 3 years of working experience preferably working with NGOs.
Should be conversant with the use of accounting packages.
