Responsible to: Security Officer

Responsible for: Assistant Security Officer

Salary: Within salary range applicable to Grade J/SE0 in the Parliamentary Service

Purpose of the Job

To safe guard and protect National Assembly staff and property.

Duties

Reporting incidents and anti-social behavior occurring within the National Assembly premises
Allocating staff to posts.
Checking entries in the occurrence book and take appropriate corrective action.
Ensuring screening equipment is in working condition.
Fronting entrances and ensuring that no one enters parliament without proper identification;
Monitoring premises through foot patrols and bicycles
Supervising the manning of entry points to the National Assembly;
Ensuring that record books at the entry points are maintain and the recording is accurate;
Keeping is safe custody security documents and available equipment
Supervising security staff under his/her charge.

Qualifications and Experience

Diploma in Security Studies with three (3) years’ experience in Army, or Police, or any reputable Security or law enforcement agency.

Purpose of the Job

To operate and maintain Chamber and outdoor equipment used to amplify, record and display sound and images during proceedings and meetings.

Duties

Setting up public address systems and equipment in the Chamber and Committee rooms;
Recording parliamentary proceedings on sound and video tracks;
Production sound and video documentaries;
Assisting parliamentary reporters to effectively use transcription equipment;
Maintaining and servicing audio visual equipment;
Manning Chamber control unit;
Providing user support to Members in the use of electronic and sound gadgets in the Chamber;
Labelling all recorded material.

Qualifications and Experience

Diploma in Electronics or Audio-Visual Production from a recognized institution with at least 2 years’ experience in a similar work environment.

Carrying out basic servicing of printing equipment;
Production of printed materials at each stage according to specifications and stage work,
Packaging finished products.

Qualifications and Experience

Malawi School Certificate Education (MSCE), plus Certificate in Printing Technology or Publishing with more than 2 years of experience in a busy Print environment.

Liaising with state security agencies on security matters of the house;
Preparing work plans and Annual estimates for the section.

Qualifications and Experience

A degree in any relevant field with good communication skills and spoken English at the rank of Major and be a retired Officer.
