BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

OMIG is now looking to recruit a self-motivated, energetic, results-minded and competent person to fill the position of Business Development Officer. The position is tenable in Blantyre.

The successful candidate will report to the Business Development Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop new business from corporate & institutional customers for short term and long term investment and savings products.
Create, develop and manage the business pipeline and develop new business from other retail investors.
Maintain existing business and champion the treating of customers fairly in all business development and customer service processes.
Key account relationship management.
Monitor and address customer complaints.
Conduct research and analysis of market and customer needs.
Plan, implement and measure effectiveness of marketing activities and taking corrective action.

THE PERSON

Must have a first degree from a recognised university in business studies, marketing, or business administration.
At a minimum, must have at least 3 years’ experience in sales and business development of financial or bank products aimed at mobilising new deposits, in particular from corporate & institutional customers;
Must have proficiency is Microsoft Office especially Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel; and be able to do presentations to corporate and institutional customers.
Must have strong interest in financial markets.
Possession of team-skills and report-writing skills will also be of paramount importance.

The Senior Field Assistant is supervised by the Head of Field Unit and performs a variety of functions related to Field activities within the office. The supervisor defines work processes and provides regular advice and guidance.

The incumbent keeps frequent internal contacts with staff members in the same duty station to exchange information and with the external contacts generally with officials of national and international institutions, leaders of the refugee community, local population and/or Implementing Partners (IPs) on routine subject matters under the direction of the supervisor.

Accountability (Key results that will be achieved)

UNHCR office has sufficient administrative and local support for the field activities thus better able to meet the needs of persons of concern.
UNHCR’s policies, standards and procedures are constantly and coherently applied in the area of responsibility (AoR).
Responsibility (process and functions undertaken to achieve results)

Assist in monitoring the implementation of UNHCR programme including the delivery of all assistance items and monitoring of infrastructure.
Assist in administrative tasks as required such as preparation of reports and meeting authorized personnel and assisting them during field missions.
Act as interpreter in the exchange of routine information, contribute to related liaison activities and respond directly to routine queries.
Collect data and other information relevant to UNHCR and report to the supervisor accordingly.
Keep regular contacts with local authorities and implementing partners as requested by supervisor.
In coordination with implementing partners, assist in the reception, registration and provision of assistance to persons of concern to UNHCR.
Follow up, on a regular basis, the overall situation of persons of concern in camps and other areas where they have been accommodated and report accordingly.
Undertake other relevant duties as required.
Authority (decisions made in executing responsibilities and to achieve results)

Liaise with local authority counterparts, partners and populations of concern.
Direct incidents and problems to the supervisor when they cannot be resolved at their level.

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.

Completion of the Secondary Education with post-secondary training/certificate in Business Administration, Law, Political Science or related field.
Minimum 5 years of previous job experience relevant to the function.
Computer skills.
Excellent knowledge of English and working knowledge of another relevant UN language or local language.

3 years minimum experience in facilitating rural community activities, extensive knowledge of VSL, strong computer literacy and a self starter.
A practicing Christian
A pleasant personality, be between 25 and 35 years old.
