ICT -Assistant

 Responsibilities and Accountabilities

He/she specifically will be responsible for:

Implementation, management and maintenance of Information Technology and Communication services and network.
Provide onsite support to the above mentioned systems and services.
Installation, configuration and upgrading, Servers, Backup systems, desktop and laptop computers and software used in the mission
Maintain communication systems/equipment including, mobile lines, PABX, VOIP and other sat-phones, Internet access, and all other communication related matters.
Ensure data and system integrity by setting up and administrating ICT security systems anti-virus, backup routines, access controls, firewall and physical security.
Provide appropriate ICT training to all users in the mission
Assist in the design of database systems and applications as required by local specifications and providing technical support to users.
Follow IOM ICT Standards and liaise with IOM Regional ICT departments in Manila for the installation and running of VPN-access to the WAN
Maintain regular updates to the technical documentation for the voice and data networks
Maintain/follow up appropriate maintenance contracts for all ICT equipment
Maintaining necessary documentation for system maintenance and support procedures.
Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education

High School/Certificate in MIS/Computer Science/ Telecommunications/ Engineering or a related field from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience, or
University Degree or Higher in the above fields with three years of relevant professional experience
Experience

A holder of relevant certification especially A+, N+, Microsoft Certifications and CCNA will be an advantage,
Ability to develop and maintain databases using MS Access, Visual Studio and/or SQL 2005 or higher will be a definite advantage;
Experience in managing computer networks preferably Windows 2008 Server and Client;
Knowledge on the use of messaging systems i e MS Exchange and hands-on support for MS Office products,
Excellent verbal and written communication/management reporting skills;
Ability to follow instructions and implement policies and procedures from his/her supervisor;
Ability to prioritize, organize and manage a large and diverse workload under pressure,
Ability to work and contribute as a team member in systems implementations,
Ability to work under minimal supervision.

Position Description

The Administration Officer will be responsible for small scale procurement, fleet management, facility management, organizing travel/training logistics, and day-to-day office supervision.

Duties and responsibilities

Administration General

Supervise office maintenance and management (plumbing, electrical, cleaning, and security of the entire facility.
Report all health and safety issues that require attention

Deliver cheques to suppliers
Verify the receipt of goods from suppliers.
Manage Filling System
Assist with tracking of Advance Requests from staff
Ensuring BCM/Malawi financial and accounting procedures and other best practices are adhered to while carrying out assigned work.
Qualifications

Accounting Diploma from a recognized institution or any relevant qualification

Skills required:

Capacity to produce high-quality briefs and reports in English;
Strong knowledge of the HIV/AIDS management;
Good level of proficiency in Windows Excel and quantitative analysis;

Residential Security Technician

 Residential Security Technician
An opportunity is available for a suitable qualified and experienced Residential Security Technician for United States Embassy, Lilongwe in Malawi. The Residential Security Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of all residential alarms. Conducts regularly scheduled residential security surveys and identifies necessary improvements and changes to property infrastructure. Develops scopes of work and coordinates with other offices within the embassy to efficiently improve walls, lights, external security features, and internal security features.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Install, maintain, and repair all residential alarms and provide alarm briefings to all new occupants. Will coordinate directly with customers and will always represent the Regional Security Office in a professional manner.
Be on call 24/7 and prepared to respond to a residential emergency if necessary.
Conduct residential security surveys in accordance with DS standards.
Provide recommendations to the RSO regarding risk mitigation at Mission residences.
Develop scopes of work for residential security projects, provide supervision of contractors as necessary, and certify properties as mission capable upon completion
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE

a. Education: Completion of secondary school. Completion of vocational school or apprenticeship program, recognized as producing journyman-skilled electricians or a related field is required.

b. Prior Work Experience: Two (2) years experience doing project management work.

c. Language Proficiency: English Level II.

d. Job Knowledge: Demonstrable proficiency in basic electronics and residential alarm system trouble shooting.

Ability to conduct residential security surveys and recommend upgrades in accordance with 12 FAM and 12 FAH.

e. Skills and Abilities: Must be able to work independently with minimal guidance. Must be able to communicate and interact directly with embassy residents in trouble shooting and resolving issues that arise. Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and digital cameras.
