The successful candidate will report to the Finance Manager.

Key responsibilities

Supervision of the fund accounting team
Planning, organizing and scheduling of work according to group, client and regulatory deadlines
Ensure adherence to international financial reporting standards
Trial Balance review and preparation of management accounts
Preparation of statutory accounts
Regulatory reporting and return submission
Ensuring timely completion of external and internal audit assignments
Client billing
Managing internal and external client relations.
The person

Must have a Degree in Accounting or Business Administration and/or CIMA Advanced Diploma in Management accounting or ACCA Professional level
Must have at least 3 years work experience in a busy accounting role
Must be conversant with Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
Must have good knowledge of International Financial reporting standards
Must have good communication skills and be a strong team player
Must have leadership skills.

Responsibilities

Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements.
Record incidents and accidents and produce statistics for managers.
Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain knowledge of all Health and Safety legislation and any developments that affect the employer’s industry.

Bolloré Transport & Logistics Malawi Limited (formerly known as SDV Malawi Limited), a subsidiary of a multinational corporation Bollore of France and a leading Freight Forwarding and Logistics company in the country, seeks to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced person to fill the above position which is tenable in Lilongwe.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Bachelor of Business Administration or its equivalent or an Advanced Diploma in Shipping/ Transport and Logistics.
They must also have a minimum of eight years’ experience as a head of department with vast knowledge of Freight Forwarding Operations, Sea Port Operations, Cross border/transit Operation Procedures and Customs Clearing Procedures from a busy and reputable Freight Forwarding or Shipping Line organization.
Roles and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Country Operations Manager, the successful candidate will among other things be responsible for:

Managing Sea Freight container movements and or bulky sea freight shipments from all ports
Ensuring that acquittals of shipments that have used Bollore bond in all borders of entry with the Malawi Revenue Authority have been effected timeously to minimize customs duty liabilities.
Managing the container demurrage/detention risks with the intention of minimizing avoidable costs to both the company and clients.
Overseeing the job file costing and authorizing debit notes and credit notes thereof in accordance with agreed existing contracts and quotations with all our corporate credit and cash on delivery (COD) clients
Providing leadership to departmental staff in order to motivate, develop teams and employee talents for optimal productivity.
Preparing annual forecast and budgets and monitoring the budgets to ensure targets are achieved.
Compiling monthly, quarterly and annual operational reports
Managing all export operations by ensuring that all MRA and clients requirements are adhered to.
A strong understanding of how a transport and logistics business operates, a proven track record demonstrating their understanding and business acumen, excellent networking skills, ability to deliver the highest standards of customer service and ability to create a high performance culture are pre-requisites of this executive position.
He/she should also be a mature person with high proficiency skills in Microsoft word, excel, outlook and power point.
