PROGRAMS AND PARTNERSHIP MANAGER

 Student Driven Solutions (SDS) is a registered nonprofit organization founded in 2015 to provide financial literacy and business training, together with mentorship and social justice awareness, to young women in Malawi aged 15-25. The vision is that Malawian young women are financially independent civic leaders who create social and economic opportunities to empower their neighbors and the country at large. SDS’ core program called “Girls Empowered” is currently implemented in four sites (3 in Lilongwe and 1 in rural Zomba). Among our most recent graduates, 91
re now saving, 52ay they feel more comfortable paying for major purchases, and 40ill receive loans from SDS to start SMEs in April 2017.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Program officer will be responsible for overseeing operations at our project sites, conducting monitoring and evaluation, resource mobilization, establishing partnerships, relaying information among staff and volunteers and regular curriculum review. S/he will have significant opportunity to build the organization and develop its programs. S/he will be committed to the organization’s mission and have a creative entrepreneurial attitude.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Overseeing operations at all project sites.

Regular supervision of program interventions on site.

Working with the Executive Director in establishing partnerships with various individuals and organizations that share our vision and mission.

Working with the Executive Director to develop concept papers, prepare proposals and implementation work plans (including log frames, activity schedules, monitoring and evaluation schedules) for submission to major donors and stakeholder partnership development.

Translating project documents between English and Chichewa.

Evaluating the programs activities and working with the whole team in implementing changes that addresses the programs demands.

Identifying areas that need partnerships, exploring the best possible ways partnering to meet the organization’s mission.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors of Arts or Social Sciences

At least 1 year work or volunteer experience in a Project Management role preferably in girls’ empowerment or education

Knowledge in using Microsoft packages and SPSS

Knowledge of M&E and data analysis

Ability to write and speak fluently in Chichewa

Entrepreneurial, self-starter, creative

Comfortable in a start-up culture

Believes in the values of youth empowerment, leadership, collaboration, and positive communication

Committed to the mission to empower financially independent civil leaders in Malawi

Available to start ASAP in Lilongwe

VACANCY: DATA ENTRY CLERK

 The University of Malawi Medical Scheme (UNIMED) is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacant post of Data Entry Clerk. Interested candidates should posses a diploma in Computer Science/Information Technology or any related field from a recognized and reputable institution and have a minimum of 1 year experience in high volume data entry experience. Candidates with data entry experience in the medical insurance industry will have an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Sort, compile and capture electronically data from claims into the Scheme’s Management Information System;
- Check the accuracy of data entered against source documents;
- Generate specific reports from the captured data;
- File and ensure security of source documents;
- Respond to inquiries regarding captured data as may be required from time to time;
- Register new membership to the Scheme;
- Any other duties assigned by competent authorities.

Required Competencies

- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites;
- Ability to operate various data processing software, spreadsheets and other database programs;
