Post: Assistant Surveyor of Vessels (Grade K)

Qualifications

Applicants should be in possession of an Advanced Diploma in Marine Engineering or Nautical Studies with Class III Certificate of Competency in Marine Engineering or Nautical Studies obtained from recognised institutions.

Duties

Register and issue licences to passenger/cargo vessel of less than 20 MT;
Conduct annual and spot survey and inspections and issue surveyor’s certificate of seaworthiness of vessels of less than 20MT;
Assist vessel owner with technical advice pertaining to vessel designs,
Repair maintenance and operation, etc. (44(g)/17)

OPERATIONS DIRECTOR

 Lilongwe Wildlife Trust (LWT) is looking for a highly experienced Wildlife Operations Expert to join our senior management team. The position is for 2 years, based at our Lilongwe Offices and at various sites, including protected areas, across the country.

It is essential that candidates:

demonstrate considerable (>15 years) experience in managing wildlife conservation projects, with over 10 years of experience managing such projects in senior operational roles in Southern Africa.
All suitable candidates must demonstrate a passion for, and excellent technical understanding of, wildlife conservation issues in Malawi.
All suitable candidates must also demonstrate that they have at least 5 years direct field experience in supervising protected area law enforcement activities, field mechanics, field construction and maintenance projects, and protected area conservation management.
All candidates must also demonstrate over 5 years of experience in working with Government and NGO partners to deliver impactful wildlife conservation projects in Malawi.
All suitable candidates must hold a degree in Wildlife Conservation Management (or related subject) and have obtained at least one other specialist qualification/license e.g. GIS, Risk Management, Mechanics, Pilot License etc. Preferred candidates will also demonstrate experience in ecotourism and staff and budget management.
