| Communications Officer
Main Responsibilities
Develop a communication strategy for the GHPP activities in Malawi Support PHIM in the production and dissemination of communications including newsletters, quarterly bulletins. annual reports, IHR updates, outbreak situation reports, etc
Support the Ministry of Heath to develop a mechanism for feedback to the districts/centres on reported surveillance data
Assist in maintaining the Public Health Institute of Malawi website , and updating content on the implementation of the International Health Regulations (2005), the Frontline Field Epidemiology Training Program, strengthening of Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response strategy, public health event preparedness activities and others as required
Contribute to NCA communications related to the International Health Regulations (2005), the Global Health Preparedness Programme in Malawi, and other relevant health Initiatives
Support outreach to entrance linkages between PHIM, other MoH departments and partners
Contribute to routine multisectoral communication and sharing of information on public health events
Required Qualifications and Experience
Applicants to be considered or this post should possess the following qualifications and experience
Minimum Education:
Degree in communications journalism, and preferably with experience from public health/ health communication or related fields
Experience:
At least 2 years of experience in communications, preferably with experience from public health/ health, communications or related fields.
Experience in building strong partnerships with venous institutions and stakeholders
Familiarity with technical knowledge of global health, statistics, and development is desirable.
Required Skills and Expertise:
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
Fluency in English with good verbal and whiten skills
Strong coordination and networking skills,
Knowledge of web and social media communication
Ability to communicate with respect, tact and diplomacy and work with interdisciplinary and multicultural team
Preferred experience with or willing to learn publishing or graphic design programs
Knowledge of Microsoft office and web based publishing tools.
Duration of Contract: Initially one year, subject to review of additional one year (with possibility for extension)
