Roles and Responsibilities:
Working under the supervision of the Chief of party, and with support from ASSIST’s Regional Director and technical experts, the VMMC Technical Advisor will assist the US Government supported facility-based teams in the design, implementation, and monitoring of activities to improve the quality of VMMC services in Malawi. The primary duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provide technical support to facility teams in development of improvement aims, measures and changes to achieve the set aims, review of data and presentation of results;
Participate in the development of quality improvement training, learning sessions materials and in conducting these even:
Make presentations at relevant technical meetings and conferences on results demonstrating quality improvement of VMMC services;
Follow developments ii best practices in the area of HIV/AIDS Prevention, Treatment and Care (including VMMC), and advise project leadership, partners, and teams on trends and developments in the area;
As requested. participate in technical meetings with other international assistance activities to determine areas for potential collaboration and seek for potential content expertise in the areas of HIV/AIDS;
Provide inputs to activity’s programmatic updates and quarterly progress reports to ASSIST headquarters and USAID;
As requested, present the activity at the MOH’s led Technical Working Group meetings;
Participate in the design and implementation of operations research focused on application of quality improvement for optimizing services delivery, system performance: developing guidelines, standards or other regulatory documents;
Develop the capacity of government coaches with required quality improvement competencies at national, district and facility levels.
Travel to activity’s sites to oversee the improvement work and to provide technical assistance to coaches and teams on the ground;
Participate in business development activities and perform other business related duties as requested by the Chief of Party.
Qualifications:
A clinical or nursing degree with experience in VMMC service provision is required
A minimum five years of progressive gxperience working in the area of HIV prevention, care and treatment:
Three years of experience in working on international donor-funded project, USAID preferred;
Proficiency in spoken and written English and Chichewa
Experience with qualitative and quantitative data analysis
Ability to travel within Malawi and-abroad up to 40 f time.
A track record of being a strong team player, excellent communication skills, high flexibility to adapt to changing work conditions.
